NORTHERN SHUSWAP TRIBAL COUNCIL is seeking to fill a Position in its treaty department.
Job Summary
The primary focus for the Consultation, Accommodation & Reconciliation Coordinator will be to articulate and oversee the protection of NStQ title and rights in terms of third party obligations to consult, accommodate and reconcile NStQ interests. This will include planning, developing and coordinating effective strategies and processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Treaty Team Coordinator to support treaty negotiations and other related activity and perform day-to-day administrative duties as required for the efficient operation of the Consultation, Accommodation & Reconciliation Unit.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate competence in analysis and critical thinking skills to solve problems and achieve effective solutions.
Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of consultation, accommodation and reconciliation principles, practices, policies and procedures as well as a good understanding of Aboriginal Rights and Title, including case law. Knowledge of Secwepemc, specifically NStQ, culture and history is an asset.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years experience in natural resource development, management and coordination, as well as experience with First Nation consultation activities. Experience in supervising and managing staff and budgets and experience with GIS and mapping is a must.
Working Conditions
Some travel is required. The ideal candidate will have and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Licence and a vehicle in good working condition with appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program needs.
