The FNFN Lands Department is seeking a Field Coordinator. As part of the FNFN Lands supervisory team, the successful candidate will coordinate all field work for the Fort Nelson First Nation. Along with the Director, the Field Coordinator will manage the FNFN Field Monitor program and is responsible for ensuring that FNFN field crews are properly assigned and equipped for the field.
Specific Duties
- Along with the Director, manage the FNFN Field program, including the departmental health & safety program;
- Along with the Director and Administrative staff maintain a monitor tracking/reporting system to manage field personnel, equipment and information;
- Supervise, train, assign and equip FNFN field crew for participation in archaeological, seismic and scientific field programs and studies;
- Oversee and assist field crew in entering field notes and other data into the information management system;
- Provide weekly updates to the Lands Director, and when requested, Chief, Council and the FNFN community regarding field work in FNFN territory;
- Other Duties as assigned by the Lands Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalency;
- Excellent supervisory and organization skills
- Good computer skills
- Ability to work 35 hours per week on a regular basis
- Valid Drivers’ License
Desired Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
- Bush skills
- Good understanding of FNFN land use, culture, and social networks
- Knowledge of scientific field methods (stream surveys, wildlife tracking, archaeology etc.)
- Up‐to‐date certification in: OFA 1; H2S; Bear Aware; ATV Safety; PST; ATV training
