Claim Settlement Land Selection Facilitator

The Beaver First Nation (BFN) requires the services of a professional consultant to assist in the selection of lands for claim settlement purposes in North Western Alberta. BFN is currently negotiating with Canada and Alberta the settlement of a claim for unfulfilled land entitlement pursuant to the terms of Treaty No. 8, and is seeking a suitably qualified expert to facilitate the land selection through a community consultation process. 

The consultant will endeavour to determine the best lands suitable for the BFN through consultation with Chief and Council, the BFN lead negotiator, BFN legal counsel, other experts as may be retained for the project, and the approximately 1000 members of the BFN (located both on and off BFN’s reserves). The qualified applicant will have relevant experience and qualifications, including GIS capability and a proven ability to work effectively within First Nation communities. 

Proposals must be received by Havlik Metcs Ltd. no later than March 25th, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, via e‐mail or hardcopy at the address provided below. Please be advised that there will be an opportunity to present to the community on March 28th, in High Level, Alberta (presentation date to be confirmed).
