The Manager, NWT Centre for Geomatics is responsible for providing expertise, leadership and vision for effective and efficient development and delivery of geomatics services for the GNWT. Working with client departments and agencies, the Manager delivers these services to support decision making and help enable effective planning and delivery of Government programs and services. Services provided by the NWT Centre for Geomatics include web based mapping services and portals, GIS applications, traditional mapping services, Geomatics analysis and remote sensing. The NWT Centre for Geomatics also leads cross government initiatives related to the effective management of data and information and provides guidance and advice to other departments on the effective management of spatially related data and information for maximum value.

Reporting to the Director of Informatics, the Manager, NWT Centre for Geomatics is manages six (6) highly technical professionals. The manager is responsible for an operating budget of approximately 1 million dollars

Applicants should have knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping. Broad understanding of the potential benefits GIS and Geomatics Services provide in the public and private sector is important. Knowledge of spatial data delivery methods is required. Strong communication, both written and oral is required as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by a University degree in relevant Geomatics discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experience including two (2) years experience managing staff and budgets.

The salary starts at $48.11 per hour (approximately $93,815 per annum), plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,450.
