Bring your highly developed policy and analytical skills to the Aboriginal Relations Branch.
In this position, as a Policy Officer, reporting to the Manager – Program Section, you will provide expert analysis and advice on complex policy issues regarding Aboriginal relations; plan, coordinate and lead small groups of policy, program, legal and analytical professionals on specific policy projects to provide expert policy advice and thorough analysis, regarding the ministry`s strategic policy interests as they relate to Aboriginal relations; represent Ministry views when working with other ministries, natural resource programs, and other government agencies.
Qualifications:Extensive understanding and experience in policy development and the decision-making processes. Analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills to provide clear and objective policy advice. Written and oral communications skills, to converse effectively with a variety of contacts and stimulate discussions on Aboriginal policy issues and to prepare responses to inquiries and briefing notes. Demonstrated judgement to handle complex and contentious issues. Knowledge and expertise in a discipline related to natural resource management and/or the social sciences respecting native studies or law in native policy planning and development. Demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and programs which could impact upon MNR and corporate Ontario native policy to provide advice on policy planning and development. Organizational skills and ability to work in a highly paced and decentralized team work environment.
