Eastern Plains Landscape Project Manager, WWF Cambodia Project Manager

As part of
the WWF Greater Mekong Program (GMP), WWF Cambodia manages a wide array of conservation projects and seeks a well-qualified and experienced candidate for the
challenging position of Eastern
Plains Landscape Project Manager.

Role:

• The EP Landscape Project Manager will play the lead role in the planning, coordination, and management of the WWF effort to conserve Cambodia’s Eastern Plains Landscape.
• The position is responsible all aspects of this work, including the planning, management, financial, human resourcing and administrative aspects of the EP landscape project.
• In fulfilling this function, the person will work as part of a team and in close consultation with WWF Country Director, WWF Conservation Programme Manager, Dry Forests Ecoregion Coordinator, regional coordinators, and other WWF staff.
• He/she also will work with government agencies at the central, provincial, district, and commune levels, as well as NGO partners, communities and other stakeholders.

The position is field-based and works out of Sen Monorom (the provincial capital) with extensive travel back and forth between the two protected areas (Phnom Prich WS and Mondulkiri Protected Forest) and office based in Sen Monorom, and Phnom Penh. The position supervises a total staff of 100 .

Approximately 5-7 days per month, as needed, to be spent in meetings,
networking, administration, financial reporting and requests in Phnom Penh.

Experience & Qualifications:

• At least 10 years practical experience in planning and managing programmes or projects in conservation, natural resource management, or bioregional planning;
• A university degree at Masters level or equivalent in conservation, natural resource management, or bioregional planning;
• Experience of working with and negotiating with Government officials at all levels;
• Significant managerial experience, with good interpersonal, delegation, communication, organizational and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization;
• Several years working knowledge of protected area management, tourism and community extension work in a SE Asian and/or African context will be a distinct advantage as will proposal development and fundraising experience;
• Must be able to work independently in remote areas and to travel extensively, nationally and to a lesser extent internationally;
• Strong biological research, analysis and survey skills and ability to develop and maintain a biodiversity monitoring system;
• Fluency in written and spoken English; and very good skills in use of MS Office programs;
• Knowledge of WWF structure, priorities and procedures; as well as WWF’s ecoregional approach to conservation.
