Employment Tenure: NOTE: This term position is to backfill for a maternity leave and will end no later than August 1, 2010. The anticipated starting date will be September 1, 2009, or upon the completion of this process, whichever comes first. A pool of qualified persons will be created, and may be utilized in the event that additional vacancies come about at this level. The pool will be valid for up to three years.

English essential

Education

Degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the position, for example, planning, geography, sociology, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in planning, either at the strategic level within organizations, or community-based.

Experience in written communication (e.g. report writing, communications products, website, presentations, advice to senior executives, briefings, letters).

Experience in facilitating groups (e.g. meetings, workshops).

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualifications may be used at the initial screening stage. Please fully demonstrate how you believe you meet these asset qualifications.

Experience, as lead, in planning, either at the strategic level within an organization or community-based.

Experience working with First Nations in the planning or sustainable community development field.

Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams.

Experience in use of technology and software programs (e.g. databases, Internet, social networks, Word, Excel, Power Point).

Experience in event management.

Depth, breadth and/or type of work experience related to the position.

  • ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

  • OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Willingness to travel, including in small aircraft and off-road vehicles.

Challenge

Provides strategic planning services, coordination and advice for senior managers and departmental staff, First Nations and First Nations organizations in the BC Region.
