The Indigenous Peoples Planning Committee is seeking new members to join and help to advance planning education and practice, raise awareness of the profession, and ensure that the planning profession has a voice and influence on a wide range of planning related topics.

The deadline for responses is FRIDAY, June 26th at 4:00pm EST.

The Canadian Institute of Planners’ (CIP) Indigenous Peoples Planning Committee exists, among other reasons, to:

a. Champion and lead progress and change in the planning practice relevant to Indigenous Peoples;

b. Address issues of importance to the planning process and/or the public interest as it pertains to Indigenous Peoples;

c. Assure linkages are made, as appropriate, between CIP and various agencies that affect planning for Indigenous Peoples (i.e., Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, etc.)

Committee members are needed with a wide range of professional expertise and familiarity with Indigenous People opportunities and issues, as they relate to the following specific topics:

ENVIRONMENT/CLIMATE CHANGE
INFRASTRUCTURE, HOUSING, LAND USE
COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, SOCIAL, CULTURAL
