I’ve never heard of that acronym before, but here’s the wikipedia page for it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egis. I wonder if this is what you’re looking for: "An acronym for Enterprise Geographic Information System, an integrated, multidepartmental GIS composed of interoperable components."
