Position Description:
GIS Analyst – Environmental Specialist Applied Ecological Services, Inc., a leader in innovative ecological solutions to land use restoration, design and planning, has an immediate opening for a GIS Analyst – Environmental Specialist in its Brodhead, WI or West Dundee, IL office.
Duties: Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard GIS techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet project goals. Use environmental background to determine appropriate data and analysis methods, innovate new GIS analysis strategies and apply/develop technologies for automated field data collection.
Skill Requirements:
• Expertise in GIS applications using ArcGIS Software (ArcGIS 9.x,Spatial Analyst, 3d Analyst, Model Builder, ArcView 3.x., and Geoprocessing functions).
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access). Working knowledge of Photoshop helpful.
• Experience with database and geodatabase development and integration of VB with Access and GIS.
• Strong analytical skills along with excellent communication andgraphic presentation skills.
• Research skills in environmental and/or planning issues and abilityto learn and develop new GIS techniques quickly.
• Experience with automated GPS/GIS data collection and the applicationof field collection technologies.
• Knowledge of programming/scripting to customize GIS applications.
• Knowledge of Remote Sensing a plus.
Education: MS degree in Geography/GIS or Landscape Architecture with extensive GIS experience and environmental coursework.
