POSITION: WEB DEVELOPER
SALARY: $32.34 – $36.67 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: 70 hours bi-weekly
STATUS: Regular Full-time
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Database Services and Application Development, this position is responsible for analyzing business requirements, creating requirements definitions and developing solutions to enhance current and new business applications.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs complex product design, systems analysis and programming activities.
· Undertakes research and prototyping to establish the feasibility of various technical approaches to current and proposed applications.
· Participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle (design, development and testing) including the technical analysis, design and development of new modules to meet business requirements.
· Converts business and system requirements into detailed system designs and technical specifications including developing program code.
· Researches new technology or development tools to help ensure that the division stays current with technology changes to meet corporate and operational requirements.
· Researches issues and problems to make recommendation and/or develop solutions.
· Analyzes and troubleshoots existing complex program code and makes adjustments as required, performing complex verification processes for assigned program module and conducting unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.
· Provides software performance tuning as required.
· Creates and provides work project estimates and timelines to assist in projecting cost breakdowns of project work.
· Provides detailed status and scheduling information to Team Leads, Supervisors or Managers.
· Acts as a technical lead and advisor including mentoring and training of other IT staff and developers.
· Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD
· Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology field or related discipline and 3-5 years experience developing desktop/browser based applications in a complex IT environment, or a diploma and 6 years experience developing desktop/browser based applications in a complex IT environment.
· Knowledge of developing and integrating with ESRI product suite for GIS technologies

· Thorough knowledge of many of the following software packages and technologies: Java, JSP, Microsoft .NET, MS SQL Server.
· Extensive experience with software architecture and design.
· Practical working experience with Object Oriented Programming, J2EE development, XML,T-SQL Scripting.
· Working knowledge of the following technologies: ArcIMS, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE
· Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License.
