The Program Data Analyst for the First Nations Initiatives Team provides program support, information, research and analysis for an important and
innovative program that coordinates natural resource ministry consultation
and strategic engagement with First Nations within the Thompson/Okanagan
region.

Outreach and close working relationships with other resource agencies and
First Nations, information and data management, project management, public
information and administrative services are all key deliverables of this
exciting and challenging position.

As an integral member of a dynamic, collaborative team, you will manage
and research databases and online information, monitor and report on
projects and budgets, respond to inquiries on a broad range of complex and
sensitive issues, interact regularly with other resource agency staff and
First Nations, an d provide a variety of administrative services to
support team operations.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will coordinate, arrange and assist in
conducting interagency committee meetings, seminars and training sessions;
research and gather sub-region information for inclusion in province-wide
reports and databases; prepare financial documentation and track business
expenses and approvals; and interact with your counterparts in the other
sub-regions to deliver on provincial mandates and goals.

A confident and effective communicator and skilled problem solver, you
draw on your exceptional administrative and people skills to deliver
timely and effective service on behalf of the Division to First Nations,
other resource ministries and the public.

Qualifications:

Education:
– Post secondary degree in a related field (such as natural resource
management, environmental science, public or business administration); OR
– Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a related field (such as
natural resource management, environmental science, public or business
administration) and two (2) years of related administrative experience; OR

– A combination of 4 years of related administrative support experience,
education and/or training.

Experience:
– Experience and/or training with standard office computer applications
(i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook) and data entry using similar databases
such as AECIS.
– Experience developing, monitoring and tracking project documentation.  –
Experience with databases, i.e. basic research methods and collecting
information through database and internet sources.
– Experience responding to inquiries and providing advice and
interpretation of general policies and procedures to public, clients and
professionals both orally and in writing.
