GIS TECHNOLOGIST


The Regional District of Central Okanagan

The GIS Technologist assists in the development and maintenance of the corporate and
regional geographic information system (GIS).

Your knowledge of concepts and theory related to GIS design and implementation, ARC/Info and Arc/View GIS operations, and application development skills are key to ensuring that the geographic information are accurately assembled and integrated within the computer system.

The successful candidate will have a recognized degree or diploma in a field which provides considerable digital mapping or G.I.S. training. This field may include, but not be limited to:
community planning, survey, forestry, civil or structural engineering, computer science, or a
related discipline. Experience utilizing Arc/Info and Arc/View Geographic Information System
operations in a local government setting along with considerable knowledge of the BC system of
land surveying as it relates to property parcels and legal descriptions of land is necessary. A valid BC Driver’s License is required.
