JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will join an energetic team of environmental science and ecology professionals across B.C. and Canada and will manage and execute project work related to your specific discipline.
The full-time position requires competency in the field of environmental services with particular emphasis in one or more of the following fields; fisheries biology, riparian ecology, wildlife biology, hydrology, reclamation and remediation. The duties will involve a variety of office and field tasks. Specific responsibilities may include:
– Provide leadership in the tasks of ongoing professional and business development in the fields of environmental sciences and ecology;
– Assist in growing the environmental science services business in the Prince George office as well as for offices across Canada and will work with the respective management teams on long-term marketing initiatives;
– Liaise with other Timberline staff and provide support in the development of new tools and procedures;
– Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate staff in the office and field; and
– Undertake project duties including the collection, manipulation and analysis of environmental science and ecology data, report preparation and client liaison.
– The environmental professional will contribute to and oversee a variety of projects managed by the Prince George Environmental Science Services and Ecology group, and will assist other offices as required. Seasonal field work, often spanning a week or more in duration and within a variety of terrain and climates, is a requirement of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills essential to developing and maintaining productive client relationships. Lesser qualified candidates will be considered based upon their qualification and experience. Technical qualifications may include the following:
– Post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences or a related degree at the Bachelor or Masters levels. Candidates with experience in the environmental service fields of fisheries biology, riparian ecology, hydrology, wildlife biology, reclamation and remediation will be given preference;
– Registered as an RPBio with the APBBC (will also consider PEng, RPF and/or PAg designations, with applicable experience);
– Familiarity with provincial and national environmental impact assessment processes and protocols;
– First Nations facilitation and capacity building;
– Experience in all phases of project work including project development, data acquisition, field data collection, data compilation, analysis and preparation of professional reports;
– Experience with computer applications as applied to environmental sciences and ecology data management and mapping; and
– Experience with statistical analysis and GIS.
