The Knowledge Integration Team (KIT) will ensure the effective development, coordination, and integration of Alberta Environment’s (AENV) knowledge strategy for an outcomes based environmental cumulative effects management system (CEMS), ensuring alignment with broader AENV and Government of Alberta (GoA) information or knowledge programs. This team will coordinate, design, and support the development and delivery of this system through analysis of the required elements of the Adaptive Environmental Performance Management (AEPM) including GIS modeling and analysis, and AEPM knowledge development.
As Senior GIS Analyst for either Northern or Southern regions of Alberta, you will provide front line delivery of geospatial services based on departmental priorities specifically the AEPM elements for the department. These services can range from basic data preparation for other staff to use in mapping applications, to the advanced modelling of geospatial data relationships to support decision making and departmental processes. You will also provide desktop support to GIS users in problem solving solutions, training, and capacity development across the department. It is envisioned that these positions are ‘distributed’ wihin Alberta to enable place based program delivery and implementation of the system support elements of AEPM.
As the ideal candidate, you are highly organized, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to work closely with others as well as independently.
Qualifications: Technical diploma in environmental or natural resources, computer science, or a related field plus extensive related experience. Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS desktop software in conjunction with ESRI’s geodatabase data management model would be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
