Reporting to the Manager, Geomatics Services, you will be responsible in this unionized position for variety of technical and analytical functions related to the ongoing development and maintenance of the Geographic Information System.
Exercising considerable independence of judgment and action, you will design and develop GIS applications, procedures and standards, assemble spatial and related attribute data, produce maps, reports and related information for departmental and corporate needs. In addition, you will provide recommendations regarding the development and enhancement of GIS capabilities to various municipal departments.
In addition to the required technical skills, the successful applicants will:

· have superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
Your education will include a post diploma in Geographic Information Systems supplemented by sound related experience preferable in a municipal setting. A valid B.C. Driver’s Licenses is essential. Considerable knowledge of the software programs and hardware components of Geographic Information Systems is required. Experience with the ESRI suite of products including ArcGIS desktop, ArcSDE, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server would be a definite asset. Additionally, experience in Autodesk Map, FME, Visio, Oracle, SQL Server, Visual Studio.net, and Tempest would also be an asset.
The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $29.41 – $34.72 per hour, plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
