GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) TECHNICIAN

The City of Airdrie, Information Technology Department’s Data Services Team, is currently recruiting for a full-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician. This position will work collaboratively with the GIS team and business units to support corporate GIS initiatives and increase the exposure of GIS within the organization. Accountabilities will include; the maintenance of land titles information, tentative parcels, addressing, road centrelines, infrastructure migration from CAD to GIS, creation of asset management datasets, GIS user training, and other miscellaneous GIS related requests. Required Qualifications:
– A graduate of a diploma or degree program from a recognized institution in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Planning or related field of study
– Minimum of 1 year experience with the ESRI suite of products
– A thorough understanding of geodatabases, versioning, and data compression
– Experience with Python or  Visual Basic
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

The following additional qualifications would be definite assets; experience with management and training for HP plotters, web mapping applications or programming, mobile GIS applications or programming, GPS devices, Google Earth/Maps or similar products, and AutoCAD Map 3D.

Salary Range: $47,040 – $60,682 per annum
