Job Overview
The GIS/Photogrammetric Technician will operate a softcopy stereo plotter system to collect topographic mapping from digital aerial photography. The position will work under the supervision of the Geomatics Coordinator. The work will utilize a Summit Evolution softcopy system by DAT/EM in conjunction with ArcGIS software.
Specific Accountabilities
- The primary job responsibility will be precise measurement and digitizing with stereoscopic plotting and computer graphics equipment to collect surface hydrology and topographic features within the Grand River watershed. A set of data development guidelines and methods will be provided.
- Other responsibilities may include analyzing data and information from aerial photographs to provide three-dimensional models of terrain, DEM collection using manual and automated techniques and other tasks related to aerial photography.
Technical Requirements
- Education: Graduation from a post-secondary institution with training in one or more of the following;GIS, photogrammetry, remote sensing, air photo interpretation and geography.
- Skills: Acuity within a stereo (3D) viewing environment and the ability to examine and interpret aerial photographs are requirements. Must be able to communicate effectively, apply instructions, work independently and maintain a satisfactory level of work productivity and quality.
- Experience: One to three years of training and/or experience with ESRI ArcGIS and training and/or equivalent experience using softcopy systems is required. Familiarity with Summit Evolution or similar softcopy systems is preferred.
The pay range is $18.27 to $22.84
