South Porcupine is located at the east end of the City of Timmins, home to a population of about 45,000. The area offers a variety of northern opportunities. The work location is a large multi-ministry facility. All medical, dental and hospital facilities are available. A good variety of housing for purchase and/or rent is available.

Are you looking for an opportunity to advance your skills and knowledge relating to the design, development and implementation of geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing solutions? Why not consider this challenging opportunity at the Timmins Geomatics Service Centre with the Ministry of Natural Resources. As a member of this dynamic team you will provide general geographic information system and cartographic support to projects, conduct simple analysis routines and provide data management support as required.

Qualifications:familiarity with GIS concepts in vector and raster data models, map projections, scale and resolution, accuracy and precision; knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS); experience with digital map production, spatial data management and presentation; experience with file transfer, file management, Internet, Windows XP operating system, network protocols, webpage authoring, peripherals, and global positioning system (GPS); experience with tabular database management and development; knowledge of basic computer file management principles; good interpersonal, communications skills to assist with the development and delivery of training packages and respond to inquiries; good organizational and project management skills; proven ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team; general understanding of natural resource management and management techniques; knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
