First Nations Research Analyst


REPORTS TO: Director, Health Policy & Advocacy Application
Deadline: 4:00 PM September 12th, 2008

Under general supervision of the Director, Health Policy & Advocacy, this position will support the Tripartite First Nations Health Plan (TFNHP) in the areas of Research and Development.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

Post Graduate Degree in health science, health information, biostatistics or related field supplemented by three years of recent related experience in First Nations Data & Research and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in First Nations Research Analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations Data & Research and First Nations community health needs.
  • High level of communication, consultation, negotiation and facilitation skills (both verbally and writing).
  • Have strong interpersonal skills to effectively generate analysis, interpretation, dissemination and generation of research reports related to First Nations Data & Research.
  • Undertake literature review specific to First Nations Data & Research.
  • Develop programs, methodologies, and files for analyzing and presenting data. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with groups, individuals and First Nations communities.
  • To provide research & data support to the development of First Nations Data & Research specific to the Tripartite First Nations Health Plan and/or as directed by the Director, Policy & Advocacy.
  • To provide support to the BC First Nations Regional Longitudinal Health Survey with development of analysis, support and generation of RHS reports and/or as directed by the Director, Health Policy & Advocacy.
  • To plan, analyze and ability to research analysis specific to First Nations Data & Research an asset.
  • Use and support of database applications and analytical tools and knowledge of current word processing, spreadsheet, database, SPSS and New Entryware.
  • Ability to work as part of an effective team with other staff, community members, and other community professionals.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizations and time management skills.
  • Perform professional research and preparing reports and recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • A valid BC Drivers License and vehicle.
  • The following is preferred or desirable: Experience working with First Nations as well as knowledge of First Nations health issues, history, traditions and values.
