Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Country Offices in the organization of national workshops and in identifying participants among indigenous peoples and indigenous peoples’ communities for each national consultation in coordination with UNDP Country Offices, the Democratic Governance Cluster at RBLAC and CSO Division. The consultant will also assist in designing the workshop dynamics and agendas of each national consultation – these must reflect and be based upon the principles of inclusive participation that this project seeks to promote.
- Assist in the systematization of knowledge and acquired capacities throughout the region at the national level as directed by the Knowledge Management Team for Latin America and the Caribbean, UNDP Country Offices, the Democratic Governance Cluster at RBLAC and CSO at Headquarters. The finished product must be an easily-accessible reference that catalogs and makes available relevant information existing work and best practices in terms of initiatives and efforts pertaining to efforts involving and/or centered indigenous people.
- Design and conceptually organize a regional workshop to be carried in 2009 after the national consultation and systematization processes have been completed, and, RBLAC and CSO have carried out a review and stock-taking exercise. The regional workshop should be designed to reflect the lessons learnt throughout the entire duration of the project, as well as any pertinent knowledge and capacities acquired from past regional workshops conducted by UNDP – particularly the Regional Initiative on Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Development in Asia Pacific which has proven to be tremendously successful (http://regionalcentrebangkok.undp.or.th/practices/governance/ripp/).
- Assist in the implementation and organization of any other activities pertaining to the initiative as requested by UNDP Country Offices, the Democratic Governance Cluster at RBLAC, or the CSO Division.
- Participate in any travel required for the successful implementation of the initiative’s activities as requested by UNDP Country Offices, the Democratic Governance Cluster at RBLAC, or the CSO Division.
