Duties:
The Geospatial Research Facility for Terrestrial Ecosystems is accepting applications for a dynamic,enterprising professional to join its research team. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in all facets of innovative geospatial solutions development, using emerging data management and computing technologies, to support terrestrial ecosystem science and management.DUTIES: As a team player in a dynamic research and production environment, the Senior Geospatial Analyst will provide technical and professional expertise to all phases of large-scale geospatial solution development including, but not limited to: translation of functional requirements into technical design and specifications documents, application \ script\interface design and development; spatial analysis; data management programming; and data summaries in the form of maps and reports. The incumbent will provide programming and analytic expertise in the following areas: comprehensive ecosystem geodatabase development and maintenance; innovative custom data management tools; web-based GIS services development; and develop and deploy field-based data collection applications using Mobile GIS. S\he will provide ongoing knowledge transfer activities including training, end-user documentation, and technical report writing.
Qualifications:
This position requires a seasoned programmer\analyst with a progressive track record spanning a minimum of 3 years designing and implementing GIS-based solutions. Completion of a Bachelor degree in either natural or computer sciences, preferably supplemented with a post-diploma in GIS. Other acceptable combinations of education, training and\or experience may be considered. Proficiency with the following skills is required: advanced level ArcGIS,Workstation Arc\Info and ArcSDE; application development using VisualStudio.Net and ArcObjects; RDBMS experience, preferably Oracle.Candidates must have excellent problem-solving, organizational,communication, inter-personal and production-oriented teamwork skills,plus the ability to work independently. Experience in terrestrial ecosystem related disciplines would be an asset.
