GIS Coordinator – Countie of Grande Prairie


Closing Date: 4:00 PM, August 12, 2008 (or until the position is filled)

Under the direction of the Systems Manager, the GIS Coordinator oversees all aspects of GIS including the design, development, maintenance and updates to the municipal GIS applications and spatial database.  Some duties and tasks:

1. Provide GIS related technical and general management to the County
2. Provide leadership in the delivery of GIS services
3. Assist with county corporate standards and with strategic planning
4. Provide Leadership for the GIS Unit in the Finance and Systems Department
5. Manage contracts and business development projects

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in GIS or GIS related field, or;
  • Degree in Geomatics, Computer Science, Applied Digital Science, Geography, Business Administration which has been supplemented by GIS software training, or;
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience in municipal government GIS, preferred.
  • Five years GIS experience.
