- Interest in conservation and a solid ecological/biological background.
- High level of professionalism and ability to clearly communicate concepts and methods.
As a member of the Ontario conservation team you will develop, acquire, manage and distribute geospatial databases and metadata. Based on this and other ecological information you will conduct spatial analyses, design and implement GIS products as well as lead/participate in research activities requiring GIS expertise. You will participate in partnership development activities, provide advanced technical and analytical services, and perform spatial analysis and GIS modeling within the context of DUC’s wetland conservation programs.
You have a degree in GIS, Geography, or other relevant natural science discipline with several years’ professional GIS experience in a natural resource setting, or a diploma in GIS with at least five years’ experience in the same environmental field. Three years’ experience in the development and use of Natural Resources GIS applications using raster and vector data sets and GIS software, ESRI products including ArcMap 9, Spatial Analyst, ArcPad, and field data collection hardware is required. You have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, are able to work independently and as a member of a team, are able to multitask, set priorities and meet rigid deadlines. A valid Canadian driver’s licence is required for this position.
