Geoscience Analyst – Ministry of Natural Resources


Your considerable geo-scientific knowledge is called upon to support Ministry of Natural Resources` programs by providing expertise in the implementation and delivery of the provincial remote sensing and other geo-spatial applications for use in resource management and the ministry`s geo-science activities. In this exciting role, you will provide specialized remote sensing and other geo-spatial services in the creation of remote sensing information products including derived data products, methods, and assessment reports for provincial clients.

Qualification: knowledge and understanding of geo-scientific principles, theories and practices of one or more geo-science disciplines such as environmental science, hydrology, geophysics or sub-disciplines; understanding of geo-spatial procedures, approaches and remote sensing principles, techniques and theory, including visual and digital image analysis and interpretation techniques, field methods, remote sensing data integration and digital mapping techniques such as GIS and geo-referencing technologies such as GPS; knowledge ofl and and natural resource management programs, inventory, monitoring and assessment framework, geo-spatial data modelling, models, systems,database development methodology and techniques as well as geo-scientific data management theory, principles and techniques;knowledge of field methods, procedures and laboratory-based research to provide specialized services; analytical, research and problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to communicate with a wide variety of technical and lay audiences; knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
