Land and Resources Planner, Treaty 8 Tribal Association


The Treaty 8 Tribal Association provides a range of advisory services for its member First Nations in Northeast British Columbia.  The Land and Resources Planner will play a key role in natural resources planning activities within Treaty 8 territory.  The Land and Resources Planner will be responsible for facilitating dialogue amongst Treaty 8 First Nations, the BC Government and industry with respect to planning processes in Treaty 8 territory. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, skills and experience:

  • Preferably a Masters Degree or Doctorate in one of the following fields of study: natural resource management, environmental science, biology, forestry or planning;
  • Familiarity with bioregional-community and conservation-based planning processes;
  • Strong understanding of relevant land use planning legislation and processes;
  • Knowledge of the various resource sectors in northeast British Columbia;
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessment legislation and processes;
  • Experience in project management processes;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment;
  • Proven organizational, communication and administrative skills;
  • Experience and a good understanding of First Nations issues.
