Pacific Peoples’ Partnership is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Cultural Events Coordinator to organize educational and cultural events in the Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island area. These events will raise awareness of environmental and human rights issues in the South Pacific and Canadian First Nations.
Must be a full-time post-secondary student returning to school in September.
Successful candidates welcome the opportunity to practice cross-cultural skills, while deepening knowledge of South Pacific and First Nations cultures, international trade agreements, international Human Rights and environmental conventions.
Duties will include:
* Coordinating educational and cultural events
* Supervising volunteers
* Working with youth, community and environmental partners
* Writing grant proposals, press releases and articles.
* Responding to phone, email and other queries.
Skills sought include:
* Strong computer ability (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
* Effective communication,
* Organized and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
This position is ideally suited (but not limited) to students in First Nations Studies, Indigenous Governance, Environmental Studies, International Relations, Pacific and Asian Studies, Anthropology
