GIS Analyst – Alberta Environment


Location: Red Deer, or Spruce Grove

The East Central Alberta Cumulative Effects Project (ECACEP) is a community-based collaborative initiative seeking to address cumulative effects in the region. The Project requires an innovative, self-motivated individual with strong technical and analytical GIS skills to manage its spatial data and information.

This position works closely with the technical lead and other multi-disciplinary team members on the delivery of a systems approach to environmental management utilizing GIS technologies. Your primary role will be developing and delivering geospatial processes, programs and protocols to ensure alignment with provincial priorities and specifications. This involves the development and delivery of GIS data, maps and products using both desktop and web based applications to support the cumulative effects model chosen for the ECACEP.

You must be highly organized, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to work closely with others as well as independently.

Qualifications: Technical diploma in environmental or natural resources, computer science, or a related field plus considerable related experience. Experience working with ESRI GIS software, and server applications such as ArcGIS. Programming skills using Visual Basic, SQL and VBA would be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
