Position Overview

Focus Corporation is a multidiscipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada.We are currently seeking a GIS/Mapping Technician to join our Fort St. John, BC Geomatics team.

Responsibilities –  Reporting to the CAD Supervisor, you will:

• Plan map content, format or design and compile required data from a varietyof data sources

• Assist with custom application development, especially at it relates todesktop GIS software (ArcGIS)

• Provide technical advise and expertise regarding the best approach foraccomplishing objectives for specific projects within a GIS/Mapping and broadergeomatics context

• Undertake other assigned duties as required

Requirements –  As the successful candidate you:

• will have proficiency in AutoCAD Map, ArcMap and ArcCatalog

• have experience with ESRI data structures, including geodatabases

• have experience with ArcGIS extensions, including 3D Analyst/ArcGlobe

• will have experience in the implementation of mapping projects including planning of map content, format/design and compilation of data from a variety of data sources including aerial photographs and satellite imagery

• have the ability to plan and organize projects and assignments and ensure successful completion

• seek challenge, have a high sense of urgency and comfortable working on a broad range of activities
