Dogwood Initiative is a Victoria, BC based non-profit organization that helps British Columbians develop common-ground solutions to forestry and energy challenges. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic individual with a passion for environmental sustainability and social justice to fill the post of Outreach Coordinator. The Outreach Coordinator will work in collaboration with all of Dogwood Initiative’s program staff to coordinate the outreach activities and events associated with each of Dogwood’s ongoing campaigns. This will include organizing door to door outreach, rallies, information tables, petition drives, public meetings and events.
We seek candidates who possess the following:
•A demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environment, social justice, land reform, community and First Nations issues;
•Ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds including labour, First Nations, and environmentalists.
•Excellent oral communication skills including good public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong listening abilities;
•Ability to inspire and motivate volunteers and a passion for interacting with the public;
•Ability to remain calm and think on your feet in a fast-paced, creative environment;
•Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives without supervision, yet participate effectively as part of a team
•Desire and ability to make a minimum 2-year commitment
The candidate should have a post-secondary degree or diploma, experience working or volunteering with non-profits and a commitment to environmental sustainability and social justice. The candidate should have excellent computer and people skills, and be comfortable speaking in public. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and well organized, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
