Position Description:
Mapping Technician I
Enrich your skills in this full-time, temporary (2-year) position
You will gain valuable experience supporting Community Planning and Environment Services by performing technical mapping work including researching, compiling and entering geographic/non-geographic data from Official Community Plans (OCP), zoning bylaws and related mapping, orthophotographs and record drawings into a computer database using a graphic workstation. You will also research and utilize a wide variety of source data and prepare/revise drawings, maps and graphic materials.
Equipped with a combination of relevant education, experience and a recognized GIS qualification, you have proven skills in ArcGIS 9.2 and other ESRI GIS extensions, AutoCAD, GIS analysis, basic surveying, spatial editing and collecting/importing GPS coordinated data. You also bring a sound knowledge of computer-assisted mapping and drafting techniques, procedures and materials as well as a basic knowledge of relational databases. Familiarity with Digital Elevation Modelling, ArcMap, ArcInfo, ArcView and various Microsoft applications and related software (Adobe Illustrator, Safe FME) would be an asset.
