Education

Essential Qualifications:

Graduation with a degree in science relevant to the position.

Asset Qualifications:

Graduation with a Master’s degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in computer science, engineering, geography or other scientific discipline relevant to the position.

Experience
Essential Qualifications

– Experience working with and analyzing spatial data.
– Extensive experience in software engineering / development.
– Significant experience in the life cycle of a major scientific and technical distributed interoperable system in an operational environment.
– Extensive experience as a Linux and/or Solaris Unix administrator
– Extensive experience with Java and/or C programming languages.
– Significant experience with Open Source projects .
– Significant experience in the deployment of OGC Web Mapping Services and Web Feature Services.
– Experience in leading project teams.
– Experience in project planning.

Asset Qualifications:

(Asset Qualifications may be used for screening purposes)

– Experience in working with provincial, territorial, and federal governments in the delivery of reporting commitments.
– Experience in the deployment and management of a major interoperable distributed infrastructure with partnerships from the federal, provincial and territorial governments
– Extensive experience in the deployment of OGC Web Mapping Services and Web Feature Services
– Extensive experience with Open Source projects as developer and user
– Administrative experience with Spatial Warehouse technologies: CubeWerx/CubeStor and PostgreSQL/PostGIS
– Working knowledge of metadata standards (including: FGDC, NBII, ISO TC211 – 19115, MARC)
– Extensive experience in leading project teams

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willing to work overtime, if required.
Available to travel frequently
Available to travel on weekends, when required.
