As a member of the Planning & Information Management team, under the general supervision of the Planning & Information Management Supervisor and group leadership of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Officer, to assist in the delivery of the information and data management activities of Sioux Lookout District.
NOTE: relocation and temporary living expenses will not be available.
Qualifications:
– demonstrated experience with relational database management software and approaches, digital map production, data management and presentation;
– familiarity with GIS concepts in vector and raster data models, remote sensing, map projections, scale and resolution, accuracy and precision;
– knowledge of Windows operating systems; basic knowledge of computer applications and modeling;
– good organizational and project management skills;
– good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills;
– basic analytical skills and some knowledge of current analytical resource models;
– knowledge of file transfer, internet technology and network protocols;
– general understanding of natural resource management, ecosystem sustainability and biodiversity principles;
– knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act;
– ability to carry out field work and travel;
– proven ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team;
– proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
– proof of full-time enrolment in a recognized post secondary college or university or graduation within the last five years;
– candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.
