Our Calgary office seeks a qualified individual to join our GIS team as an intermediate GIS Consultant. This group provides high-quality mapping and spatial analysis services to each discipline specialist across the organization to fulfill project needs. The team is growing as Matrix is looking to more fully integrate GIS technologies into its services.
Responsibilities:
Matrix is looking for a candidate who will assists in developing geographic database structure, spatial web-based search engine, and other related projects. The position will include high-level maintenance and enhancement of Matrix GIS infrastructure including, but not limited, to GIS server administration. The GIS Consultant will also provide guidance and training to team members.
Requirements:
As the qualified candidate you will have a B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering, a technical GIS degree, or a degree in a related field and have 3-5 years experience designing, programming, and deploying Geographic Information Systems, Web Applications and Client Applications. A working knowledge of environmental databases and environmental data management practices would be a strong asset.
You must have a solid understanding of GIS concepts and practices and strong knowledge of spatial data transformation, management, manipulation, modeling, and analysis. You will be proficient with GIS software, have good cartographic skills, and have the ability to create and update spatial databases using data in a variety of different formats. In addition, you will have a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to develop and achieve department and project goals.
