Our Calgary office seeks a qualified individual to join our GIS team as a junior to intermediate GIS Consultant. This group provides high-quality mapping and spatial analysis services to each discipline specialist across the organization to fulfill project needs. The team is growing as Matrix is looking to more fully integrate GIS technologies into its services.
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Responsibilities:
This position will be dedicated to the environmental impact assessment (EIA) mapping project. The successful candidate will assist with the creation, updating, and correction of personal and distributed GIS databases as well as provide support to the EIA group. Normal duties will include: spatial and attribute data creation; acquisition and analysis; manipulation of raster and specialized vector data; and GIS map creation. Perform Quality-control on GIS deliverables The GIS Consultant may be asked to support projects dealing with analysis of environmental data in support of new business opportunities.
Requirements:
As the ideal candidate you will possess a technical GIS degree or degree in a related field and have 1-5 years experience using GIS software packages, preferably ESRI ArcGIS. A strong understanding of GIS theory, including the use of projections, coordinate systems, metadata, and a basic knowledge of spatial analysis is necessary. You should also be familiar with national mapping and spatial data standards and have strong problem solving skills.
