JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate’s primary duties will include the loading, updating, integration and quality assurance of data with industry standard GIS products and a customized forest information management system. In a dynamic team environment, the GIS analyst draws on the skills and experience of a large group of resource managers, information technologists, and GIS specialists.
QUALIFICATIONS
In order to be successful the GIS Technician will:
– Have experience and formal training in ArcGIS and ArcInfo Workstation;
– Have a thorough knowledge of GIS concepts, especially those relating to topology and data translation;
– Have a good understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational database;
– Be skilled and interested in automating GIS tasks with AML, or Visual Basic;
– Hold a GIS focused post secondary accreditation or have a minimum of two years work experience;
– Enjoy problem solving and GIS analysis;
– Be enthusiastic about enhancing their existing GIS talent; and
– Familiarity with the resource industries, experience with ArcPad, programming/scripting skill and a valid driver’s license are assets.
– Be self-motivated and team-oriented;
– Have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
– Bring professionalism and innovation to all tasks;
