Education:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science or applied science relevant to the duties of the position.

Experience:

Experience in researching, consolidating and synthesizing scientific or technical information from a variety of sources.
Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

* The following merit criteria may be required for this position. Applicants should indicate in their application if they meet the merit criteria.
o Experience in developing environmental guidance documents.
o Experience in reviewing or assessing environmental assessment* documentation or providing technical advice for environmental assessments carried out pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act or under provincial or territorial environmental assessment legislation.
* Environmental assessment as defined in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act or any other provincial or territorial environmental assessment legislation.
o Experience in participating in negotiations with external clients.
o Experience or specialized training in GIS techniques and analysis.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness and ability to travel to remote communities and locations.

Willingness and ability to work extended hours and attend field trips.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Reliability Status. This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. The hiring department is responsible for the security clearance process.

Valid driver’s license.
