GIS Analyst/Programmer, Idaho Department of Fish and Game


The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is looking for a senior level GIS analyst/programmer that wants to contribute to the management of fish, wildlife and plant resources in Idaho. Working in the Idaho Fish and Wildlife Information System (IFWIS) this person’s primary responsibility will be to develop GIS databases and applications for the non-game and at-risk species programs, as well as contribute to other IDFG GIS and programming needs. The successful applicant will work in an ArcGIS/IMS/SDE/Server and .NET object-oriented team environment that is integrated with SQL Server databases. This position will work closely with IDFG biologists and data managers in the Non-game Program and the Idaho Conservation Data Center (Natural Heritage Program) and other programs in IDFG.
 
This is a senior level position.  At this level, incumbents are able to plan, design, conduct and oversee major GIS programming and analysis projects. They will be expected to serve as a technical lead and department expert in GIS technologies and applications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

– (Programming Background) Demonstrated expertise in the design and development of relational databases and Windows and Web applications using SQL Server, Visual Studio, .NET and IIS.

– (GIS Background) Demonstrated experience using ESRI GIS software products, including spatial data capture, conversion, and analysis, plus application of cartographic principles.

– (Leadership) Responsibility for lead role in the development of large, complex database, application and GIS projects.

– (Team Oriented) Ability to work in a team-oriented environment utilizing a common framework of object-oriented database and development tools, and conduct frequent interaction and communication with biologists.

– (Natural Resources) Desire to apply information systems and technology to the management and conservation of fish, wildlife and plants.

Salary: This position is a full-time, classified position with the State of Idaho. It includes a competitive salary (18.86/hr – 25.15/hr) and excellent benefits package.
 
Location: The position is stationed at Idaho Fish and Game’s Headquarters Office in Boise, ID.
