APPLY TODAY if you want to travel with us to Victoria this month to attend this year’s GATHERING OUR VOICES CONFERENCE!
We’re looking for five Aboriginal Youth from around BC who want to learn about writing and become on-line reporters for the upcoming Gathering Our Voices Conference.
Represent your community as a paid writer and reporter for the free on-line magazines RedWAY BC News and First Nations SchoolNet News!
To qualify for one of five paid writing positions, you must:
- be an Aboriginal Youth, age 14 to 24 living in BC
- be able to travel to Vancouver on March 16th to meet everyone, then go by ferry to Victoria for the week to participate in the GOV 2008 Conference, return back to Vancouver on March 20th to then return to your home.
- sign an agreement to say you’ll respect the conference code of conduct and guidelines provided by organizers of this trip
- agree to work with our team to take photos and do interviews on-site to gather content for 2 articles for the on-line magazines
TO APPLY TODAY…
1. Visit the conference website and carefully read the conference agenda, registration package, and workshop descriptions (www.bcaafc.com).
2. Fill in the application form. A Word format and a pdf are attached. You must:
* Agree to abide by conference guidelines to be respectable community representative: no drinking, no drug use, no violence, etc.
* Tell us in 50 words or less why you would be a great candidate to represent your community at the Gathering Our Voices Conference.
* Tell us which two workshops interest you the most…which two workshops would be your priorities to attend? Why do you want to attend those two workshops?
3. Fax or email your application form to us by noon on Saturday, March 8th. See next page for details and contact information. We’ll be contacting winning applicants Monday the 10th to begin making travel arrangements!
