General Accountabilities:
– In a multi-versioned ArcGIS environment, be responsible for editing pre-imported electric facility data, within assigned versions, to adjust features according to documented standards for visibility and geometric network connectivity. Editing will consist of both manual and semi-automatic feature adjustments, with some manual feature creation, using out-of-the-box ArcGIS and ArcFM toolsets as well as custom purpose-built toolsets.
– Perform a Quality Assurance assessment on the resulting edited electric facility data, typically on a per Distribution Feeder basis, including reporting any outstanding issues or deficiencies in the data which may require further clarification, including field data confirmation / collection.
– Take direction and seek clarification as necessary on data and standards issues from the assigned supervisor.
Specific Accountabilities:
Access and extract information from Hydro One information sources, including:
– Distribution Operating Maps
– CAD drawings
– Submarine cable records
– Condition Assessment databases
– Station equipment records
Use Computer software to view, query, print and edit Electric Distribution System data, including:
– AutoCAD
– Access
– ArcGIS and ArcFM
– Custom applications such as MDx viewer
Selection criteria:
– Familiarity with Electric Distribution System concepts (Electricity flow from Substation via conductors, switching and protection equipment, transformers, etc. to customer connections).
– Advanced knowledge of Distribution Systems an advantage (Three phase vs. single phase lines; primary and secondary line construction; overhead and underground distribution practices).
– A thorough understanding of GIS concepts, data models, feature geometry, attributes, relationships between objects, geometric network connectivity.
– Experience in the use of the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop environment, preferably at version 8 or 9.
– Advanced experience working in a multi-versioned ArcSDE environment.
– Good communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language.
