Qualifications:
The successful candidate will minimally have an undergraduate degree emphasizing Western Canadian archaeology, and 3-5 years archaeological field experience in Canadian precontact and historic archaeology undertaking survey and mitigation excavation at the supervisory level. Candidates must demonstrate strong writing, editing, reporting* and organizational skills. Experience working with Aboriginal people in archaeology is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience in Manitoba and Canada may be considered. Training in human osteology is an asset.

Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Archaeological Assessment Services, Historic Resources Branch, the Archaeological Services Officer is responsible for integrating archaeological services to provincial agencies and non-government sector clients regarding the impact assessment provisions of The Heritage Resources Act as well as participating in archaeological programming in the field and in an office environment. Duties include maintaining correspondence, database and paper files, writing and editing reports, implementation of information workshops, supervision of site excavation and survey as required. Travel is required.
