Education

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience is required in EACH of the following areas:
Extensive experience in project management of environmental programs and initiatives.
Relevant experience in dealing with current political, economic, social and/or development issues in Aboriginal communities and/or Northern Canada.
Relevant experience in organizing and conducting various meetings and consultations with multi-stakeholders including Federal, territorial and Aboriginal governments and organizations, community members, industry, public boards, etc.
Experience in preparing written briefing materials for senior management.

    • Extensive experience in the filed of environmental assessment and/or environmental regulation.
    • Financial and human resource management experience in the context of program delivery.
    • Experience using document management systems (CIDM) and well as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Groupwise.
    • Experience in cross-cultural communication, management, and meeting facilitation.

Challenge

Administration and implementation of environmental issues, assessment and management programs under comprehensive land claims in the Northwest Territories (NWT) for First Nations, northern communities, other government departments, and the public and private sector.
