SALARY: $39,882 – $47,562 per year

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess a diploma in geomatics or cartography specializing in geographic information systems (GIS) combined with several years of related experience, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated technical ability in computer mapping (e.g. CARIS, ArcView) and GIS software is required.
Theoretical understanding and demonstrated ability of the principles, methods, and procedures of computer mapping and GIS software applications is essential. Demonstrated ability to compile stereo models is also required. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a part of a team are required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and independence of action. Good communications skills, both verbal and written are required.

Conditions of employment: Incumbent must pass a stereo acuity test.

Duties:
The incumbent will be responsible for producing and maintaining the geo-referenced topologically structured topographic database for the Province of Manitoba’s MLI website. The incumbent will also perform compilation and topology building for the provincial topographic database. The information includes aerial triangulation, compilation, editing, structuring and building of polygon topology, adding annotation of toponymic data and adding all attribute information. Responsible for quality control and all related format translations along with updated reports.
