You will be responsible for adapting and applying cartographicconcepts and integration of design methodologies to produce qualitycustomized maps for clients working on the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB)program. This position will also include management of MPB GIS data,converting data to GPS points and files for use by field staff andadapting/modifying related provincial GIS data to suit client needs.This position may include assisting on other division initiatives suchas wildfire. You will also liaise with MPB staff regarding the captureof data, and to ensure communication of GIS, mapping, geomatics andresource information to MPB staff.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in GIS,excellent client relations skills and has the ability to prioritizemultiple tasks while under tight deadlines.

Qualifications: A related technical diploma (Resource Management, GIS, Forestry). Knowledge of GPS/GIS software as well as Microsoft Access and Excel is required. Experience with natural resource data using GIS software applications (i.e. ArcGIS, ArcINFO, ArcView and Image Processing) would be considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered. A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower salary and level. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.
