The Construction Support Services is a key branch within the Engineering & Operations Division of Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation. The branch provides expert and experienced technical training, consulting, specialized purchasing and evaluation services that ensure consistent quality and fairness in the delivery of highway construction projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Civil Technologist Graduate (Architectural, Building Design CAD), CAD Technology Graduate or have completed Departmental Level III training courses. Must demonstrate experience with the policies and procedures relating to surveys and Occupational, Safety, Health & Risk Management (OSHRM). Must demonstrate experience working with CAD and Geographic Information System (GIS) program. Knowledge of current construction methodology as it pertains to road construction and specialized survey (i.e. airports, bridge, DTM’s, railways) would be an asset. Must be able to demonstrate the following: strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, strong time management skills, good oral and written communication, strong analytical skills, leadership and decision making skills and ability to use engineering software. Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license, willing to travel occasionally to field work locations and the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.

DUTIES:
The GIS & Graphic Specialist reports to the Geomatic & Geographic Support Technologist and performs moderately advanced technical and engineering functions related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatic and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. The GIS & Graphic Specialist will also extensively interact and work in conjunction with the Department’s Regions and branches to develop field data collections forms and provide associated training.
