The Ministry of Natural Resources seeks an experienced individual who, reporting directly to the manager of the Species at Risk Project, will be responsible for the development and ongoing management of Aboriginal relations with regards to consultation on the new Endangered Species Act (ESA), 2007 and harmonization of this act with the federal Species at Risk Act. You will: contribute to the implementation of the ESA, 2007 related to First Nations and the federal government by providing advice and recommending options in the development, implementation and transfer of the act across the province; support the policy development process with professional expertise and advice.
Qualifications: knowledge of existing legislation and policies, procedures and practices related to natural resource management and Species at Risk in Ontario; knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history, treaties and associated case law; research and analytical skills and experience as they relate to developing and implementing natural resources policy; well developed oral/written communication skills; strong organizational skills; ability to work tactfully and cooperatively in a team environment; excellent project management skills; advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
