FULL-TIME CLASSIFIED POSITION

Thisposition provides direct support to the civic addressing maintenanceresponsibilities of the Office of Public Safety. The incumbent will bedirectly involved with the actual processes by which new civicaddresses are assigned in provincial jurisdiction, in certainmunicipalities and in special areas. The position will also providesecondary technical support to GIS objectives of the Office of PublicSafety.
Duties will include:
– receiving and reviewing building permit documentation fromprovincial property development officers and providing direction toGeomatics section to define geo-referenced civic address assignments;
– Receive and review building permits from propertydevelopment officers to ensure the necessary information required forassigning a civic address within provincial jurisdiction;
– preparing and forwarding official notifications of new civic address assignments to property owners;
– liaising with specific municipalities which approve their ownbuilding permits to ensure their residents are adequately addressedaccording to Provincial standards;
– assisting administrators of special civic addressing areasin the province to ensure accurate and complete addressing ismaintained within these areas;
– maintaining internal civic addressing records database and associated filing system;
– responding to civic addressing and or 911 service inquiries;
– producing specialized map plots as required;
– assisting with review of geographical boundaries used for emergency service delivery;
– assisting with comparitive analysis of digital GIS data;
– providing service delivery back-up by retrieving and analyzing specific 911 call recordings;
– other duties as required.
Qualifications:Applicants must have high school graduation supplemented by completionof post secondary education in Geographic Information Systems. Proventechnical abilities to operate "MapInfo" GIS and "Microsoft" Access arecrucial to completing the work required of this position. Knowledge ofdesktop database/spreadsheet management as well as a comprehensiveunderstanding and proven application of Geographic Information systemstheory, and applied technical skills in digital line creation, datasharing, data base design/development, and analytical functions wouldbe considered assets. Corporate knowledge of geo-referenced civicaddressing principles, standards and relevant legislation would be anasset. Applicants must possess strong oral and written communicationskills and have the ability to work independently as well as, part of ateam. The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminalrecords check prior to beginning employment.
