The search is on for qualified employees to perform technical duties that support forest and range resource planning and management in areas such as silviculture, timber harvesting, forest roads, compliance and enforcement, valuation, range, and integrated resource management. You’ll review forest and range land use plans, licenses, and contracts and recommend amendments as well as perform other related duties.

Required education and qualifications for this exciting opportunity include a degree in Geography with a specialization in Geographic Information Systems or a diploma in Geographic Information Systems and 5 years’ related experience in a Natural Resource setting. Alternatively, you have 10 years’ directly related experience in a Natural Resource setting and a demonstrated excellence in the use of Geographic Information Systems. It’s important that you have a strong working knowledge of ESRI Arcmap preferably ArcInfo GIS and programming experience with database languages.

Additionally, you have demonstrated the ability to:
– Organize, plan, and evaluate.
– Communicate well verbally and in writing.
– Work under limited supervision and must have the practical ability to communicate complex and evolving technical issues to technical and non-technical staff, clients, and the public.

You should also have demonstrated forestry related knowledge concerning timber supply analysis, timber chance planning and tenure conflict management. The position requires a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
