As the Spatial Information Analyst, you will conduct advanced spatial data analysis on a variety of land and resource planning and decision making projects. Projects include land use planning, habitat analysis, environmental reporting and monitoring, socio-economic analyses, treaty negotiations and timber supply analyses.

As an expert in the discipline of information and analysis, you will gather digital data from a range of subject areas, design and apply analytical processes and develop products resulting from this analysis to meet the needs of various clients.

You’ll work closely with Land Information Coordinators and Land Information Specialists to ensure client needs are well understood, communicated within project teams, and that the resultant solution resolves the client’s needs.

Additionally, you’ll work with clients in various agencies, crown corporations, partner industries, non-government organizations, and the general public. The position involves working directly with clients on a day-to-day basis, and being responsible for articulating client needs and developing appropriate solutions in the information and analysis component of the decision making processes.

Your qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in a related natural resource management field and 2 years of related experience; or a technical school diploma in GIS or natural resource management and four years of related experience or Grade 12 supplemented by related courses and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You have demonstrated experience manipulating and integrating geographical and statistical data using ESRI geographic information systems, other applications and relational database management systems (preferably Oracle). You also have demonstrated experience creating a variety of digital, geographical and descriptive products including themes, colour thematic maps, terrain models and associated descriptive statistics. Project management training and experience with contract management are assets.
