Dogwood Initiative is a Victoria, BC based non-profit organization that helps British Columbians develop common-ground solutions to forestry and energy challenges.

Dogwood Initiative is looking for a Forestry Campaigner to play a key role in our innovative work.  This work seeks to address the root causes of problems and to unite historically antagonistic sectors.  Working closely with our expanding network of grassroots and First Nations partners, the Forestry Campaigner will coordinate and implement all of Dogwood Initiative‘s forestry campaigns.

We seek candidates who possess the following:
-A demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environment, social justice, land reform, community and First Nations issues;
-Previous experience in environmental, social justice and/or human rights campaign work;
-Community organizing experience – organizing and mobilizing support from the public and working with the media;
-Ability to relate effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds including labour, First Nations, and environmentalists.
-Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills, including the ability to demystify complex ideas;
-Excellent oral communication skills ­ including good public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong listening abilities;
-Ability to remain calm and think on your feet in a fast-paced, creative environment;
-Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives without supervision, yet participate effectively as part of a team;
-Desire and ability to make a minimum 2-year commitment
